Fonterra pushes ahead with high-speed internet

Fonterra says about 80 per cent of its farmer suppliers, canvassed on access to high-speed internet links at a national series of roadshows, have wanted it immediately.

Fonterra had been working on the project for 18 months and was assessing the demand before formally deciding to push ahead with it.

Fonterra wants all of its 12,600-plus suppliers to have high-speed internet access. Of the three-quarters of suppliers who now use the internet, about 70 per cent have connection problems.
