Doors open on rays' new home

A couple of stingray swimming laps in their new giant tank are drawing crowds at Kelly Tarlton's in Auckland. Pictured is aquarium curator Andrew Christie with a 1.5m short-tailed stingray in the new tank.

The 350,000-litre open-topped acrylic tank is part of a new Stingray Bay exhibit opening today at the aquarium on Tamaki Drive. Other stingrays will be moved into the new tank next week.
