Of the games coming next year, a surprise-hit continues to vie for the top spot against Halo 3 for the biggest selling 360 game of the year.
The latest Guitar Hero III
- Legends of Rock has become a massive mainstream seller.
In October US sales figures reported Halo 3 staying at the top with 433,800 copies sold, taking the total to 3.7 million.
Not many games sell more than a million in the first month on sale but along comes Legends of Rock and it flies out the door, just as its predecessors did.
It sold 1.4 million in the US in just the first six days.
Of those, the Xbox 360 version was the biggest seller (382,200 copies) followed by the Wii (286,300) and the PS2 version (271,100).
It's more proof that gamers are in an age where they want to participate - something that has continued to make Wii the biggest selling console in the US each month on end.
There is no Stairway to Heaven on Legends but some awesome hits from other big legends like the Stones, Guns N' Roses, Beastie Boys, Muse, Pearl Jam, Alice Cooper and Heart.
You can even paint your face and freak out your flatmates doing a Kiss hit!
It's got to be by far the best hitlist for the game ever and something for a wide range of fans.
There's even some punk thrown in like the Sex Pistols "Anarchy in the UK" and American punkers Dead Kennedys' classic "Holiday in Cambodia."
And it's not all classic rock only your dad enjoys.. There's some recent hits like the Bloc Party's "Helicopter" and The Killers' "When You Were Young."
There are a few tweaks to the working theme and those familiar with the game can push it with the difficulty level this time around.
But in the end, it's just air guitar showmanship as you become a star on the rock soundstage.
Let's hope there's a packed out stadium every night. Check out this guy doing the Iron Maiden thing, or check out this guy stuttering his way through.
They are self-made karaoke stars - I've got a few friends who sing their hearts out too!
And Xbox 360 players will now find co-op, face-off, pro face-off and battle mode available on Xbox Live for playing with a friend or guitar fan around the world.
Great to see a cool idea turn out legendary, just getting better and better with each release.
