Midhirst Tennis Club:

Midweek Ladies has started for all teams now, and Midhirst 3 started well, winning 6 – 0 against Pihama at Pihama. Nicky Uhlenberg was player of the day.

Midhirst 2 played Ōkato 1 at Ōkato and won 4 – 2 in a close battle where the game count was 41 – 38. Player of the day was Kristen Jannings who won all her games.

Midhirst 1 played Manaia 1 (winners of the last round) and were handed another resounding loss, however there were some terrific rallies but the team just couldn't finish them off.


Stratford / Avon Bowls:
Colin Jones, Morrie Stieller and John Sextus of the Stratford / Avon Bowling club played at the New Zealand Fire Brigade tournament in Palmerston North last week.

Morrie Stieller was runner up in the singles competition, winning four out of four, while the triples team won four out of four games. The pairs won two out of four, while the fours team won two out of four.

Overall they won 12 games out of 16, finishing in third place overall.

Last weekend two teams played in the Taranaki Men's Open Triples but both missed out on qualifying.

Last weekend June Phelan qualified with her team in the Women's Taranaki Open Triples. Her team won their first post section game but lost the next game by just one point.
The Championship Drawn Mixed pairs planned for this weekend has been postponed, with a new date to be arranged.

The High Moss Under Five Years 2 x 4 x 2 Optional Pairs tournament will be played from Saturday, March 9.

Stratford Women's Golf:
The Hope Penn Best of 3 of 5 nett took place on Tuesday, February 19.

Scores: Debbie Volzke (62 nett), Heather Vivian (63 nett), Jennifer Paterson (68 nett) and Sharyn Buchanan (64 nett).
Best putts were Jennifer and Sharyn with 28.
Next week is the Nancy McCormack Foursomes, own partners.


Strathmore golf:

Twilight on February 20 was played in very good weather by a good number of players. Best scores were Laureen Baldock (24), Mike Johnston (25-2=23), Jessie Whitehead (22), Glen Murfitt (21), Micheal Lowe (20), Geoff Otterson (20), Rike Caskey (20) and Margy Smillie (19.) Closest to the pin was Laureen Baldock.

Sunday, march 3 is the first round of the Captains Trophy and also first round of the Golden Putter.
