ALTHOUGH Inglewood may have missed out on its scheduled Christmas Parade on Saturday, the town still played host to 24 axemen competing at a Taranaki Axemen's Association meeting.
Organisers were very pleased with the good turnout of locals, as well as the 10 others who travelled from Thames, Taupo and Wellington.
After
a wet and windy start to the day, the weather cleared, things were set up and people were chopping in no time.
Organisers of the event would like to say a huge 'Thank you' to Inglewood First Trust for their support, and to their other sponsors: Taranaki Civil Construction, Inglewood Timber Processors, Value Building Supplies, Holes R Us, and Gavin Muir and Linda McIntyre of McDonald Real Estate; without their support such a successful and popular meeting could not have been held. The next Axemen's event is to be held at Puke Ariki on Sunday March 7, 2010.
