Inglewood High School student, George Redpath says that striving for school dux was in the back of his mind throughout his last year of high school.

"When it was announced at prizegiving I was shocked and excited," says George, adding that he had done his best throughout the year on each of his assessments.

George says he looks forward to studying at Lincoln University this year towards a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and he sees himself with a career involved in either agriculture or the environment.

Proxime Accessit Carissa McInnes plans to study towards a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and criminology, with a minor in history. Carissa advises students heading into year 13 to keep up their study.

"Keep at it, study really does help you prepare for exams," she says.

She says year 13 is the best year at school.

"Make the most of what is around you, your friends, family and teachers."

George agrees.
