Windscreen crack proves a jackpot

A crack in the windscreen turned out to be the best thing that has ever happened to Stratford couple Jim Pratt and Maree O'Connor who have won $10,000 worth of travel vouchers.

The lucky pair won the vouchers as part of the Smith & Smith Auto Glass Repair and Replace promotion, the company gave away a $10,000 travel prize each month for three months. Jim was the second winner of the competition after having his windscreen replaced at Norm Webby Panel Beaters, an authorised Smith & Smith dealer.

Fergus Hosie, regional operations manager for Smith & Smith in the Central North Island, says meeting winners like Jim and Maree is a highlight of his job. "We love rewarding our loyal customers, we are very happy for Jim and Marie."

Jim was entered into the draw after taking in his vehicle in to have the windscreen replaced. Jim says he only uses Smith & Smith authorised dealers when getting his vehicle windows repaired.

Jim, who has never travelled outside the North Island before, say the couple haven't decided where they are headed to but adds its exciting to think about the possibilities. "We are deciding whether to spend a lot on flights to go far away or head over to Australia and spend the vouchers on experiences and activities."

Jim says his first plan of action is to get himself a passport, "I've never had the need to have one before, I better get on to it".

The couple say they are "incredibly grateful" to Smith & Smith for the prize. "I have never won anything before, I couldn't be more thankful" says Jim.
