Weekly police report from Stratford

Police were involved in the pursuit of a car on Friday night, after a vehicle failed to stop at a checkpoint. The driver and other occupants of the car were arrested following in Normanby following the pursuit.
Domestic disputes have also been an issue in Stratford over the past week, including an arrest for assault with a weapon.

Domestic disputes

- On Friday, June 5 a Stratford male was arrested for assault with a weapon after police were called to a domestic dispute at an address in Stratford. He was summonsed to appear in Hawera District Court on June 9.

- On Sunday, June 7 a female from Stratford was arrested for assault and wilful damage after police were called to an address on Regan Street.

Police also responded to another call about a minor domestic dispute at this address the next day.

- On Monday, June 8 police issued a police safety order after being called to a domestic dispute at an address in Stratford.

Drink driving

Police were involved in a pursuit on Friday, June 5 after a vehicle failed to stop at a check point on Broadway Stratford.

The car was followed up Pembroke Road and into the national park. Road spikes were set up but the offending vehicle turned around and headed back to Stratford.

Police followed the car south of Eltham and stopped the vehicle in Normanby.

All the occupants of the car were arrested and the driver, who was under 20-years-old, was charged with driving with excess breath alcohol after blowing 250mgm/l. On the same night, a male from New Plymouth was also charged for excess breath alcohol. He was under 20-years-old and blew 199mgm/l.
