Michael McDonald (17) says the Central Vipers have big goals heading into the National Rugby League Youth tournament later this month.
Michael, who is based in Inglewood, was selected for the Mid Central Vipers for the second time this year after only playing rugby league seriously for the past two years.
Based in Inglewood, the New Plymouth Boys High School student says the team struggled at last years youth tournament but have big plans for this year. "Last year wasn't a good tournament for us, we came last but we are looking to improve on that this year."
Michael, who in the past has played for the Bell Block Marist Dragons as his club team as well as the Taranaki Sharks, says the Vipers team is selected from players throughout Taranaki, Manawatu and Hawkes Bay.
"The regional teams play in a tri-series and the Vipers are selected from these games."
