Working to prevent child abuse, the dedicated staff of CPS hold courses and workshops educating front line personnel such as social workers, the police, teachers, Iwi workers and health personnel in recognizing the tell tale early warning signs of child abuse and of the necessary follow up measures.
CPS is a recognized Adult Community Education Provider, running two NZQA accredited courses, the Child Protection Studies Programme and the advanced Diploma in Child Protection Studies.
Country Caring For Kids follows on from Jodi Vaughn's initiative to support CPS after her well-publicised childhood experiences.
Jodi recorded and released her single 'Where's my Teddy Bear?' to raise funds for CPS and to lift the public profile of the organization. Show organizer Margaret Orr, who has worked with disadvantaged children in health camps, immediately recognized the worthiness of the cause, and had no hesitation in contacting CPS and Jodi.
"I know it is a clich?, but it is true. Our children are our future, and in one way or another we will depend on them just as much as they have depended on us," said Ms Orr. "We must ensure that our kids have the best possible environment that enables them to flourish.
We must protect our kids. For this reason 'Country Caring For Kids' will be a family show, and we are featuring the best young artists who point to the future of country music as well as the more seasoned performers."
The twins have been very busy since they started performing a couple of years ago. Cara and Kaitlyn have appeared in Josie Barras' fundraising concert for the Baptist Church's Cornerstone Community Centre Building Fund at Bell Block and they electrified the audience at Margy Orr's 'Beautiful Dreamer' launching concert in Hawera late last year.
They keep their performances honed by regularly busking at venues throughout Taranaki.
