Wow! Almost Easter already. Can this year move any faster? I'm sure we are all a bit overwhelmed at how fast time is passing by and hoping to get a bit more done during the day.
Just a reminder to all of our advertisers and editorial contributors - with Easter holidays,
we have earlier deadlines. Our deadline for advertising and editorial for publication April 11 is 12pm Wednesday, April 4. Make sure you don't miss out.
The weather sure has played havoc over the past few weeks and I'm sure the little sunshine has been very welcome by us all. No snow on the mountain, so maybe a few more warm days to come.
My last column was all about being a better boss. This one will be on how you could be a better employee. Being a better employee doesn't just change how others see you, it will also help improve how you feel about yourself.
In the current economic climate we should all be grateful to have a job to go to everyday, there are many out
there who have been job hunting for ages and would love to be in our shoes. Remember too that nobody is
indispensable or irreplaceable, so do everything you can to make yourself a valued employee.
Firstly, be punctual. There is nothing more frustrating than an employee that is always late. Take pride in your
work and go the extra mile when things need to be done. Don't be a clock watcher, complete the tasks set out each day so that you can start fresh the next day without having to worry about what should have been done yesterday. Set goals for yourself and learn as much as you can about your company and industry. Think
of ideas that will help the company be more profitable or generate new business, this will make your position more secure and could even get you a promotion.
Be friendly and build a good rapport with your colleagues to make a more pleasant working environment and do
whatever you can to help your fellow workers. Be flexible and ready to embrace change. Business is constantly
changing and being able to adapt and take on new challenges will be a huge advantage to you in any position. Being positive at work will not only show through in your performance, it will create a good impression on you personally.
