Thousands flock to A&P show

More than 15,000 visitors flooded Stratford A&P Showgrounds this weekend to visit the annual show.

With ferris wheels, performing ponies, breeders showing their best cattle, pig races and trade stalls there was something for everyone to enjoy says Stratford A&P Show secretary Christine Hughes.

"We do our best to make the show as family friendly as possible. It was great to see so many young children out and about with their families."

Taking the time to tailor her stall "for the kiddies" is how Kara Northcott of Kara's Kandys won the highly commended award for her trade exhibit says Christine.

"Kara has been a part of the Stratford A&P Show for three years and always makes a big effort to prepare little bags of treats for the children to enjoy at the show."

Kara says she was surprised to win the ribbon and will definitely be back for the 2016 show.

Dairymaster Stratford took out the top exhibit prize this weekend, winning the Best Trade Exhibit ribbon on Sunday morning.

This is the second time the milking and pumping company has won the award and Craig Burrows, director of Dairymaster, says he was pleased to be taking home the ribbon.

"We put a lot of thought into our display. We wanted it to be fresh and clean with the newest possible technology on show for the visitors."

Craig says that Dairymaster are regular exhibitors at the Stratford A&P Show and look forward to being a part of it again next year.
