SCHOOL balls are a major part of your senior years at high school and having everything perfect is essential!
Inglewood High School's ball is on July 24, and already the buzz of dress shopping, shoe shopping and jewellery shopping is in the air - even with a couple of months stillto go!
The planning that goes into this one night is immense.
Being a Year 12 student, I believe having the perfect dress is everything!
Imagine the horror of turning up to the ball and finding out that not only do you and your dress do not stand out in the crowd, but also that the girl across the room has exactly the same one!
Because its my first year as a senior student, I'm getting the privilege of going to the ball, and after two years of watching my sister go to hers (and feeling so jealous,) it's finally my turn.
To be totally different and go an extra step, I've decided make my own ball dress - a difficult yet exciting task.
The first step (and one of the most important) in making my ball dress was choosing the design and the basic style of the dress. This is closely followed by the next most important step - choosing your fabric; the fabric makes the dress - horrible fabric horrible dress!
Having decided on my design and fabric, so began the long and hard hours of pinning, sewing and overlocking my dress. I have to say this was tough, and I spent many lunch hours trying to make my dress look fabulous.
However, I think the end result is truly heart-stopping: when I see I've turned what was just a piece of annoying, slippery, silky fabric into a dress that really stands out in the crowd, it makes me really proud to be able to say 'I made that!'
With that done, there is then the pre-ball party, the limo (so you and all of your friends look like the coolest people there), your make-up, shoes, hair and all the other extras necessary to make this one night one of the best of your life.
Yep, it's a truly, stressful and busy time, but the ball is going to be so much fun!
