Stratford District Youth Council did their bit for Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week with a clean up on Victoria Park, Stratford on September 15.
Youth Council chairperson Kate-Lyn Edser, says the youth councillors wanted to support the national campaign and decided to start with their local park. "Victoria Park was chosen as it is used most by the youth councillors themselves, so they came along to pick up litter from around the playground and on the sports fields" says Kate-Lyn. She adds that the group were involved in the planning of the extension to the skatepark and therefore take pride in the area. Keep New Zealand Beautiful week ran from September 14-20 and Kate-Lyn says it was great seeing the youth councillors so enthusiastic to be a part of it.
