Taranaki Modified competitor John Jackson enjoys two wins in a row

Taranaki Modified competitor John Jackson continued his good form at Stratford Speedway on Saturday night.

Jackson won the Modified Grand Prix at his home track two Saturdays ago and then backed that up with another victory when he won the Taranaki Champs on Saturday.

He placed second in race one behind Carl Hinton before winning race two and then coming home fourth in race three.

The combined results earning him enough points to win the event by one point from Auckland racer Jamie Fox and Richard Pierce who were both tied for second place.

The pair raced a four lap run off to determine in which order the competitors would stand on the podium.

Pierce drew pole position but Fox drove round the outside of him through turns one and two to win the run off and claim second place.

Carl Hinton looked to be a threat for the title after winning race one but he crashed heavily into the wall in race two ruining his chances. He did make it back out for the Ginge Hayward Memorial race though where he finished second behind Fox.

The Demolition Derby Teams Champs took place on this night also with seven teams fronting to do battle.

After the qualifying rounds the four top teams were Munta Motorsport, Unstable, Dad's Army and Mulisha.

Dad's Army beat Unstable in the first semifinal while Mulisha beat Munta Motorsport in the other semifinal. Munta Motorsport and Unstable then raced each other for third and fourth place overall with Chris Van Beers taking the win for Unstable.

Mulisha then faced Dad's Army in the final but despite their best effort, Mulisha were beaten after Dad's Army dominated the race from start to finish with Adam Reed taking the win from Ben Davis.

Stockcars were the only other class to race on the night. Dale Michielsen stormed home for a good win in race one while Bradley Podjursky drove nice quick lines to win race two. Emili Hatcher showed a good turn of speed in race three and won by a whisker from William Hughes.

A Demolition Ramp Derby completed the nights entertainment with Darron Jeffrey being the winner.

The next meeting at Stratford Speedway is on March 23 and will feature the Youth Ministock Spectacular, Sam Korff Saloon Memorial, John and Gary Adamson Superstock Memorials and the King of the Mountain Minisprint Champs.
