Taranaki design agency TGM Creative a winner

The work by TGM Creative for Stratford District Council has received national acclaim.

Taranaki design and branding agency TGM Creative has won several awards at this year's National Redshift Design Conference.

As one of 32 boutique design studios from across the country, TGM was announced as winners in the Best Corporate Brand Category for their work with Stratford District Council (SDC) on their new district identity.

TGM Creative was approached by SDC to collaborate on the Stratford brand, an initiative to help regenerate the central business district, aligning with their 20-year plan to encourage growth in visitors, businesses and community members within the Stratford District.

Designer Robyn Morrison created a number of contemporary elements, including visual and photographic lightbox installations which were displayed throughout key areas of Stratford, including the re-vamp of the public library.

The most noted element was the use of imagery on empty shop windows along the main street, which the Redshift judges said had a real vibrancy and made them want to visit Stratford themselves.

Director of community services for Stratford District Council, Kate Whareaitu, says Stratford 2035 has been very well received overall by the community.

"The design is simple yet effective and has supported the conversations Council wanted to have on Stratford's future, enabling a sense of pride and ownership in the community."

TGM Creative also picked up Runner Up Winner for the Small Business Website for Beverley McLean - Wedding Celebrant, created by Rachel Smith and Special Category Runner Up Winner for their work with the STDC Aotea Utanganui Museum's Across the Centre Line exhibition.

The collateral for the exhibition, exploring the history of transportation in the South Taranaki District over the last 120 years, was created by designer Elle Brenan, who has also recently created the new-look logo for Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki.
