CHOIR and band music lovers alike should clear a space in their diary at the end of the month.
Why? Because after last year's impressive performance at Stratford High School, Aorere College is sending some of its finest musicians to Stratford for more of the same on August 29-30.
"Aorere College performedfor the junior school last year and were so well-received by our students that we thought it would be great to have them back; and staying with us this time," says Cathy Trueman, music teacher at Stratford High School.
"The students will be arriving in Stratford on Sunday, August 29 and will be billeted by SHS families."
The profile of the Aorere College music department has been skyrocketing for a couple of years now under the direction of Douglas Nyce, and presently boasts a huge range of different musical groups.
Groups performing in Stratford include the Sweet Sixteen Choir, and Front Row Choir; the 'Soulmonics' women's barbershop, the '4Elements' men's Barbershop, and the 'Clashchords' men's barbershop; as well as the schools 'Euphonics Concert Band.'
The varied and interesting programme includes 'Te Atua' a new composition that won the NZCF 2010 Sounz Choral Composition.
The groups will perform at Stratford High School on Monday morning and perform elsewhere during the day.
They will then perform for the public on Monday, August 30 at the Stratford Baptist Church from 7pm. Entry is by optional donation.
"Young and old alike will love this concert," says Cathy.
