Stratford Lions Club: Annual Christmas Stocking Raffle winners celebrate early Christmas

Christmas has come early for the winners of the Stratford Lions Club’s annual Christmas Stocking Raffle.

First-place winner Kay McAlpine and partner Chris Hendren will have a few extra gifts to unwrap this year, with the pair nabbing a large desk stacked with goodies.

Kay, who has lived in Stratford for 30 years, regularly buys a raffle ticket.

“It’s something I do each year. I’m so excited to win such an iconic Stratford raffle.”

She said there’s plenty to go around, and is planning to share some prizes with others.

“It’s very timely for Christmas and there’s a great variety of items in here.”

As well as plenty of gifts, she also received about $1500 in vouchers to spend locally.

“It’s such a great raffle.”

The second-place prize, a wheelbarrow full of goodies and vouchers, was won by Thomas Perret. Marty Petford won the third-place prize of a washing basket full of presents and vouchers.

Stratford Lions Club raffle organiser Pat Moore said 7500 tickets were sold, meaning $7500 would go directly back into the community through different projects.
