A restaurant in Hawera has taken out one of the top awards in a competition run by Beef + Lamb.
After six weeks of voting the Black and White Restaurant has received the Beef + Lamb People's Choice Award for the Taranaki region.
The restaurant's chef, Rene Fritzenwanker, is thrilledwith the win.
"We are delighted, it's amazing. We are a new restaurant so this has come at a good time for us. We sold a lot of beef and lamb during the promotion, we love the product," he says.
Beef + Lamb New Zealand chief executive Rod Slater says all the participating restaurants are already proven to be offering the best beef and lamb cuisine in the country and the public's endorsement is further evidence of their excellence.
"Those involved in the competition hold the Beef + Lamb Excellence Award, the criteria for which are assessed annually by culinary experts and the award is only given to those who are consistently providing a top quality eating experience," he says.
Diners will be able to identify Black and White and other regional People's Choice restaurants by the gold striped plate hanging in each restaurant.
