Thanks to the fantastic response we had to our Taranaki Veterinary Centre Pet Idol 2014, advertising manager Jessica Hughes and managing editor, Ilona Hanne were delighted to be able to deliver a cheque to The Scratching Post in Stratford.
The cheque, made up of a proportion of every entry fee paid for the popular competition, has come "at the perfect time", says Karma Andrews, a trustee and volunteer at the local charity.
"It will all go on kitty litter and Jellymeat. That might not sound glamourous, but it is needed and much appreciated."
Karma thanks everyone who entered, as well as the sponsors and organisers of the competition. "It is great to get any financial help, and with plenty of kittens coming through, we certainly will put it to good use."
When we went to deliver the cheque, we met some of the four-legged recipients. As you can see, they were so adorable we couldn't settle on one "purrfect" photo. All three of these cuties are available for adoption through the Scratching Post, and Karma says that the adoption fee of $125 includes desexing, vaccinations, worm and flea treatments and a vet check. The kittens are all well-socialised, having spent plenty of time with other animals, children and adults.
