CCS Disability Action has set up office in the Stratford Community House.
A national non-profit organisation, CCS Disability Action has local offices throughout New Zealand and has been working in Taranaki for many years, supporting disabled people of all ages to live in and to be included in their localcommunity.
"We are delighted to have moved to Stratford," Regional Manager, Lorraine Mamea-Hind says.
She says the Stratford Community House Trust was carefully designed to provide an approachable, accessible, welcoming and safe place for all involved organisations, to enable them to work together in a collaborative manner to support the needs and aspirations of the local people.
Area Manager Richard Ousey says the decision to set up an office in Stratford was imperative, due to the central location creating an incredible opportunity to reach those in need.
"With the help of the Community House we can help those in need with our organisation as well as guide them to other avenues of support within the house," he says.
CCS Disability Action has a vision that every disabled person be included in family and community life.
"We aim to support people to live the life that they want to live," Richard says.
There will be several services available at Stratford Community House. Sandy Nuku provides the vocation service to help people with disabilities into employment.
Meanwhile, Lynda Jackson-Mills provides the children and family service, which can help those under 19 (particularly looking at finishing or leaving school) during a transition period.
There will also be a team available to provide supported living services, helping adults with disabilities to live in their own homes.
"I would like to say a very big thank you to Sherry Lee, the Community House Manager, for making us feel so very welcome," Lorraine says.
