Netball star speaker for Scone Night

The annual Great Eltham Scone Night is going to be "bigger and better than ever," says Wendy Barry of the Eltham Business Association.

This year's event will feature celebrity guest speaker Keisha Grant, a member of the Mainland Tactix netball team and a former member of the Waikato Bay Of Plenty Magic (Runners Up ANZ Champs) and the Northern Mystics.

"We are really excited to have Keisha coming along this year, she is from Eltham originally so we are hoping for a nice big audience for her to speak to."

This will be the sixth annual scone competition, which will see the best home bakers of the area compete for the title in the 4 Square cheese scone competition, while young bakers have a chance to wow the judges in the junior master scone competition.

Judging will be at the Eltham Town Hall on Friday, June 17 between 4 and 6pm and Wendy encourages all keen bakers to take along their best three cheese scones.

"Secret ingredients are always welcomed, creativity is rewarded."

Michael Jago, the owner of Eltham 4 Square and sponsor of the cheese scone competition, says much like the Eltham Cheese Day the night is about "putting Eltham on the map".

Entry to the Great Eltham Scone Night is a gold coin donation, doors open from 7pm.
