CENTRAL Taranaki Mustang car owners are getting out the polish and wax to prepare for the 30th National Mustang Car Show in New Plymouth next weekend.
About 120 cars are expected from all over New Zealand
The Taranaki Mustang Club was originally formed in 1975 to preserve a classic American icon and
to share social and recreational activities with friends and families. This has been an extremely successful format as the Ford Mustang continues its strong appeal to owners and enthusiasts alike, across all Mustang generations, with some of our founding members still involved with the Club.
The Taranaki Mustang Club is the original club, with other clubs formed and now based in Auckland, Waikato, Manawatu, Canterbury, Southern, and the Bay of Plenty. Currently the Taranaki Mustang Club has a membership of approximately 50 families and individuals with over 75 cars ranging from 1964 through to 2009. Some are showstoppers, some are used every day and others are high performance race cars.
Every year, one of the clubs takes its turn to host the National Convention over Labour Weekend. 2009 is the turn of the Taranaki Mustang Club.
The Swann Insurance National Mustang Car Show will begin on the Friday evening, October 24, and on the Saturday the TSB Stadium in New Plymouth will host a display of Mustangs ranging from 1964 through to 2009, many of them never seen in Taranaki before.
Sunday will see a Taranaki-wide organised cruise involving approximately 120 vehicles and later that evening is the "Gala Awards."
Entry is $5 per person with under 12yrs free – so bring the kids.
