"I have always wanted to do Shave For A Cure, and I just thought this year is my year," says Nancy Fatches, pharmacy assistant in Eltham.
With a goal of $5000 in mind, Nancy is raising money for the national Shave For A Cure foundation, and in April will loseher locks for the cause.
Shave for a Cure is Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand's signature fundraising event.
Nancy, who works at Moss Rocard and Smith Chemist Eltham, says that Shave For A Cure is a cause that is important to her, "I have lost a few friends to cancer and I think that is time that I do my bit for the cause".
Nancy adds that her job has also been motivation for her to get involved, "I have formed very close relationships with a lot of my customers, many of who have been affected by blood cancer".
In a heart warming show of support, Nancy's daughter Alana, from Palmerston North said that she was up for the challenge too.
The mother daughter team have planned their shave date to be Thursday, April 2 at Abstract Salon in Hawera. "We really hope to have raised at least $5000 by then."
Nancy has donation tins at the Moss Rocard and Smith Chemist 2014 shops in both Stratford and Eltham and the pair have their own fundraising page.
