The Beehive has become a little bit more accessible to Stratford residents, with Chester Borrows, the National MP for Whanganui now having an office in town. With the extension of the Whanganui electorate the area now includes area south of the Patea River and also that bounded by Cardiff, Monmouth and Kahouri roads.
Chester says that having an office in Stratford, along with his offices in Hawera and Whanganui affords him the opportunity to work with local constituents and achieve the best results for the Stratford community. "With Kath Weir working in the office four days a week there is an approachable and available voice for Stratford direct to Parliament."
In choosing the location for his new office, Chester spotted Stratford Community House as an obvious choice. It is central, a new premises, houses other agencies in the community sector, and the rent goes to supporting this worthy local initiative.
Chester is well known to Stratford residents having worked here for 6 years as a detective sergeant in the 1990s. He and Kath are keen to visit businesses and organisations in Stratford and to be of assistance, especially in dealing with regulations and red tape.
Chester encourages constituents to make an appointment if they have any questions or concerns they feel he can help with.
