IN 2007 Andrew Tylee bought a nice piece of land on Graeme Street in Eltham with plans to build his dream home.
However, unforeseen cost stopped that plan and Andrew had it look at other options. He discovered it was cheaper to relocate an old house onto the site and renovate
it.
Andrew's partner Nikki Adams and their daughter Briarna thought this was perfect and found their home in Hawera.
On Tuesday, May 20, the house was relocated from Hawera to Eltham arriving at its destination at around 4am.
Andrew hired Independent House Movers to get their home from the roadside over the neighbour's house onto their section at the back.
With plenty of skill, the three-bedroom home was raised more than three metres off the ground to sail past their neighbours home and garage.
Plenty of nerves were flying through the air as well, with all parties concerned watching with baited breath. Luckily, the house was easily manoeuvred under live power lines, over the fence and up over the neighbouring properties.
The couple hope to be in the house by August, and have plenty of renovating to do before then.
