Morgan donates her locks

You could say Morgan Hobo has gone to great lengths to help other children in New Zealand.

The kind-hearted and thoughtful eight-year-old has changed her hairstyle and in doing so has donated an impressive 35cms of her gorgeous hair to a company that makes wigs for sufferers of alopecia.

Morgan's kind action will help children twice over, firstly the young person who will receive a wig made from Morgan's hair, but secondly with a donation being made to Canteen on her behalf by the company who have "bought" her hair.

Morgan says she has been growing her hair for a while, "although I had shorter hair when I was younger because I cut it myself!" Other than a regular trim since then though, it has been growing longer and longer. "My cousin shaved her hair off to fundraise for cancer when she was about my age," says Morgan, which inspired her to do something to help people as well.

"It was long enough to donate as long as I had my hair cut quite short, and it seemed a waste of the hair not to do it." Morgan says she had decided to have her hair cut, and realised if she took a few more cms off than originally planned, then the cut hair would be of a length suitable to donate.

Although she was happy with her decision, she still had a moment of nerves, closing her when Jaimie Bertie of Suede - Hair by Design, took the scissors to her ponytail.

Morgan says she does miss her long hair at little bit, but is happy knowing it has gone to good use.

"If I grow it long again, I think I will do the same and donate it again as well."
