Man dies after milk tanker and car crash in Hawera, South Taranaki

The man who was critically injured in a milk tanker crash this morning has died.

This brings the holiday road toll to 11.

A car and milk tanker collided in South Taranaki.

The truck rolled into a paddock after the crash just after 9.30am near the intersection with Ohangai, Tawhiti and Ararata roads in Hawera, police said.

The driver of the car was in a critical condition. The 53-year-old Wellington man was airlifted to Taranaki Base Hospital, Fairfax reported.

The Police Serious Crash Unit continue to investigate.

Police will release the name of the man once his next of kin have been notified.
