Last chance to get popular Girl Guide biscuits in Stratford

Jamie Swan, Phoebe Peach, Madison Hallett, Ashley Swan and Natalie Dodunski were selling biscuits last week.

Fans of the popular Girl Guide biscuits have one last chance to buy some in Stratford.

GirlGuiding announced in May last year that after more than 60 years of selling the biscuits, girls will stop selling the biscuits this year.

The Griffins factory in Auckland is no longer producing the biscuits so once the remaining cartons are sold there will be no more.

Luckily for Stratford residents, the Stratford Brownie and Guide troops still have some to sell over the next couple of weeks.

On Tuesday last week, members of the Stratford Brownies were outside Countdown Stratford selling the biscuits to a steady stream of customers.

Many of the customers took the opportunity to buy plenty knowing this was the last batch of biscuits to be available.

Amber Brown was one shopper keen to stock up.

"Oh we love these biscuits and have always bought them each year. It's sad they are stopping, I think they are a part of our culture really, everyone has a box or two in their pantry don't they?"
