IHC workers at Stratford's Idea Services are picketing local MP Shane Ardern's office one day a week to protest over a five-year wage freeze.
Community Services Worker and spokesperson for the group, Jenny Keegan, said IHC has received a 2% increase in funding from the Ministry of Health.
"Instead of passing thison they have hit us with a five-year wage freeze.
"We think we are worth more than 2%. We are multiskilled and provide medical support, meals, personal care and domestic help to people with disabilities, and we also advocate for the people we support.
"We work long hours and do over and above our job description. It's a difficult job," she said.
As a protest the group are picketing the MP's office an hour a week and are not doing paper work at the office.
They are also stopping sleepovers with clients one day a week, leaving that to management.
They are circulating a petition to try and get more recognition for their services.
The Food and Services Workers Union is in negotiation with IHC over the issue.
