The Stratford Lions club has had a busy few months already this year.

In January, Camp Quality - a five day camp for children with cancer, was held in Taranaki. A farm day was hosted with a range of activities, and club members assisted with the water slide.

In February, club members ran sausage sizzles at the District Council's Summer Nights programme for both the movie and music nights.

Another February event, the Lions Charity Golf Tournament, was held and a donation to the local branch of New Zealand Foundation for the Blind was given from it.

The February meeting hosted a presentation from Kai Kitchen telling members how it provides lunches for children in Central and South Taranaki.

Gordon Astwood was presented with his 30-year service badge recognising his long service to Lions in February.

Gordon has held many positions in the Club, including president twice during those 30 years. His enthusiasm and dedication were applauded by his fellow members.

In March, members attended the Lions Convention which was hosted by the Waitara Lions this year.

Stratford Lions president Peter Death received an award on behalf of the Stratford club for the best club website.

It is now the final quarter of the Lions year and the club continues with regular projects such as assisting with Blood Donors day and Meals on Wheels, and the collection of unused spectacles, can tabs, old money and foreign currency.
