Sometimes it is the smallest gestures that create the biggest impact, which is why Wendy Clough believes we as a community should get behind the Middlemore Foundation's Jammies in June appeal.
Wendy's attention was caught by the idea when reading about Jammies in June in the media.
"I know thatthere are so many good causes we should all be supporting, but I love that this is such a simple concept that we can make a big difference with."
Jammies in June involves people going out and purchasing a pair of flannelette pyjamas, from newborn to 15-year-old sizes, which get distributed to hospitals nationwide. The pyjamas are used to keep children warm and hopefully lessen the high rates of preventable illness in children.
"The hospitals do provide jammies, but they are not warm or special," says Marlene Stratton, inpatient service manager for Kidz First Children Hospital.
" Giving children pyjamas helps normalise a hospital stay and helps parents and families understand the importance of keeping their children warm, especially this time of year."
Wendy would like everyone to know anyone wishing to donate to the cause can leave goods with her. "I think this is something that everybody could get behind, especially when a pair of jammies can cost as little as $10."
If you want to donate some pyjamas phone Wendy, (06) 765 5024 to arrange a drop-off.
