Stratford shoppers will be able to get a head start on their Christmas shopping, with plenty of merchandise available for sale through the Stratford Daffodil Day committee says the committee's vice president, Raewyn Rooney.
Every year, Raewyn and her team sell the Daffodil Day merchandise at the popular luncheon as well as visiting rest homes and various groups in the weeks leading up to the day.
"We often sell out of some of the items, as people buy several things to put away for gifts for people later on in the year." Raewyn says this year there are some great collectable items available, as the charity celebrates it's 25th year. "So we have beautiful brooches to commemorate the anniversary, and the teddy bears are sure to sell fast as well. Each bear has a daffodil embroidered on one paw, with 25 years stitched onto the other one." This year's bear is named Charlotte, making it the perfect gift for any royalist who wishes to commemorate the birth of Princess Charlotte earlier this year, Raewyn adds. "And of course, one of the raffle prizes is a giant version of the bear, so make sure you buy your raffle tickets when you see them being sold later on this month."
The ever-popular pens, serviettes and windmills will all be for sale again this year, along with some new items including plenty of handmade items. Raewyn has been busy making beautiful heatbags with a bright daffodil patterned fabric, and she says other crafters are already hard at work creating earrings, necklaces, headbands, hair scrunchies, "the list is endless, there is going to be a great range of stuff on sale this year".
Raewyn and her team of volunteers are happy to bring the merchandise to rest homes and other groups over this month, and she says if your group or organisation would like them to visit you, give her a call on 06 765 7110 to organise it.
