Stratford Singers and the Taranaki Steam Band will combine for a musical event 'Music Through the War Years - Gallipoli to the Golden Era of Swing'.
The performances will be on stage at the TET Kings Theatre, Stratford on June 13 and 14.
The combination of melodies, lyrics and rhythms will stir emotions as we listen to war favourites such as 'Keep the Home Fires Burning' and 'It's a Long Way to Tipperary'.
These songs sustained us through the war years and after. Then swing became the new thing - so many of the tunes such as 'String of Pearls' and 'American Patrol' became standards.
When forty voices merge with thirty-five big band instruments the result can only be awesome!
