Feedback sought on Stratford District Council's draft annual plan

There wil be no formal consultation, but feedback is still being sought on the draft annual plan for Stratford.

The Stratford District Council draft 2019/20 Annual Plan for year two of the Long Term Plan 2018 -28 has been released, containing a proposed rates increase of 4.69 per cent.

Chief Executive Sven Hanne says the rates increase matches the amount set out in the LTP for Year Two.

The Annual Plan outlines Council's budget and services for the coming year, identifying any budget changes.

He says Council agreed there would be no formal consultation on the 2019/20 Annual Plan, as it is not significantly different from what is set out in Year Two of the LTP.

"However, community members can still tell us what they think and have their feedback
considered by Elected Members when they make decisions for future planning."

Stratford mayor Neil Volzke says Council worked closely with the community in 2017/18 in developing the LTP.

The LTP set Council's direction in maintaining and growing facilities, and ensuring the district remains a desirable place to live, work and play.

"The first year of the LTP has largely been a year of planning and laying the foundations
for a number of key projects and initiatives. Looking forward, the next two years will be focused on delivery."

A highlight of the first year of the LTP has been progress on the Council's residential subdivision off Pembroke Road, says Sven.

"Moving into Year Two and beyond we look forward to commencing the many other projects set out in the LTP, including the children's bike park, Stratford Discovery Trail and the new swimming pool."
