Band-aids and strapping tape are no longer in short supply at the Eltham Junior Rugby Club thanks to a donation by OnFarmSafety NZ.
Each team in the school aged rugby club received a fully stocked first-aid kit from OnFarmSafety NZ on Thursday afternoon.
Rugby club convenor, Te Aorangi Dillon says the club, which was only re-established last year, is grateful for the community support it has received. "We are humbled by the donation from OnFarmSafety NZ, last year we pulled the club back together on our own and it is great to see local businesses getting behind us." Te Aorangi says before the club was re-established there were seven years without teams for Eltham children. "We now have four teams, two rippa rugby, an under 8 team and under 11 team, one more than last year."
"It feels good to be helping out young people in our community," says Stacey Paton, office manager at OnFarmSafety NZ.
Stacey and her colleague Shelley Beare attended the club's training night on Thursday to hand over the kits to the teams. "We both have children so we understand the importance of supporting sports clubs and the necessity of first aid kits," says Shelley.
