Diamond anniversary for McCleods

Howard and Shirley McCleod celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 4 and the couple marked the occasion with a party for friends and family at their only daughter's home.
People travelled from far and wide to be with the pair on their special day. Even some of the guests who attended their wedding made an appearance.
Howard and Shirley's history dates back to 1944 where they met at a Navy dance while both of them were serving in the military.
A naval wedding in Shirley's home town of Cambridge was to follow their courtship and instead of the customary horseshoe, the couple were presented with an anchor for good luck.
They settled in Cambridge before moving to Taranaki 22 years ago.
They have resided in Stratford for the past 11 years to be closer to family and are the proud grandparents of five children and great-grandparents of six.
Pictured, the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends and cut a cake to mark their time together.
