At the South Taranaki Forest and Bird meeting on Thursday night, four members were awarded with "Certificate of Appreciation" from Forest and Bird head office.
John and Merle Smith from Hawera and Margaret and Rex Hartley from Eltham were presented with their certificates on Thursday. Also awarded was Gordon and
Lorna Le Fleming from Manaia, who we not present at the meeting.
The "Appreciation" is recognition for 25 plus year membership combined with years at committee level, organisation of working bees and predator control work.
At the end of September, Royal Forest and Bird New Zealand is celebrating its 90th birthday. South Taranaki and North Taranaki branches are combining over the weekend of September 28-29. On the Saturday South Taranaki is holding an open day at Hardwick-Smith Hut (a easy grade 6km walk - 3km each way) located in the Mangamingi area. This bush block backs onto the Lake Rotokare Reserve.
On the Sunday North Taranaki is hosting an afternoon tea get-together for members.
