Croquet Club is a 'whole lot of fun' for new players

"Our club is really just a whole lot of fun," says Stratford Croquet Club captain Eileen Judd.

The Stratford Croquet Club season started this month and Eileen says new players of any age and skill level are welcome to come along and join.

Eileen, who is also club secretary and coach, says lessons are available for beginners who would like to get involved in the sport.

Game day for the Stratford Croquet Club is a Tuesday with Club Association competition being played from 10am and Golf Croquet being played from 1pm.

"Golf Croquet is relatively new, it is kind of like 20/20 cricket, a shorter more fast paced version of the original game."

The Stratford club is also a member of the South Taranaki Croquet Association, and Eileen says Stratford players have the chance to be a part of inter-club competitions with the Hawera Croquet Club and the Hawera Park Croquet club. Eileen adds that the inter-club competitions are a great way to meet new people.
