The birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's daughter is being commemorated by a New Zealand Post limited edition 1oz silver proof coin.
One thousand of the coins will be minted and will have a design of the New Zealand silver fern and the English rose intertwined on the rim, with the centre of the coin depicting a traditional baby's carriage with the birth date of the baby. New Zealand Post is authorised by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as the only official issuer of legal tender New Zealand commemorative coins and the design has been approved by Buckingham Palace. New Zealand Post Head of Stamps and Coins Simon Allison said the decision to mint the coin reflects the huge affection Kiwis have towards the Royal couple and the close relationship New Zealand has with the Monarchy as a member of the Commonwealth.
