Stratford New World Colts were at home to Spotswood colts for their first game of round two.
We started the game well with some good forward work around the break down and some good tactical kicking by Josh Perrett kept us well inside Spotswoods half. From there we were able to keep applying pressure and ran in a well worked try to Sean Foley. We continued to play some good rugby in the first half with Spotswood getting very few chances to get inside our 22 and when they did we quickly turned them around with some good defence and clearing kicks.
We went into half time with a 15-0 lead and optimistic that we could continue on and play some good flowing rugby. However the Spotswood had made big improvements on the team we beat 40-8 only two weeks ago.Their scrum and lineout were much improved and so was their work around the break down, with their backs threatening to break the line on numerous occasions.
With our communication on the field not as good as previous weeks the few times we made it into the Spotswood 22 we either turned the ball over or gave away silly penalties giving us only one penalty to Josh Perrett in the second half.
Spotswood continued to put a lot of pressure on us and we spent most of the time in our own half with the last 20 minutes inside our 22 under huge pressure.
