Nick Childs says that receiving his Stratford Rugby and Sports Club blazer during the 125 jubilee was the highlight of the weekend.
"When I worked out that my 50th game would be during this weekend I was really excited," says Nick, who has been playing rugby for the Stratford Seniorssince 2011.
He began playing rugby for Stratford when he was 5, following in his father's footsteps.
Playing for Francis Douglas Memorial College while at school, Nick says he always planned to play for Stratford again. "I love the club and love wearing the jersey," he says, adding that it is a combination of the players, supporters and the committee that make the club so special.
Nick has played for the Taranaki B team and hopes to one day be selected for the ITM Cup team.
"Rugby has given me so much. I have had opportunities to travel and make life-long friends through the club."
Like many others in the club Nick now owns a Stratford Rugby and Sports Club blazer and to thank the club, Nick has donated a tie to be worn by the next player coming up to his 50th game. "Jason Eaton is next with 44 games so he will be wearing the tie for a while."
Nick encourages all players leaving high school to play for the Stratford rugby teams.
