The inaugural duck calling competition for up and coming shooters was held at the Whangamomona Hotel the night before the duck hunting season opened on May 3.
Rail cart guests were treated to a fine display of calling all done within the mai mai of course. Judge Lizzy Cop called for a quack off before announcing the winners. 1st-Jed Hutchinson, 2nd- Sam Pease, 3rd- Isla Mutch. The many budding hunters helped Mark Cop deal with his most pressing duck hunting problem- a shiney dome head. No paint was spared! Many thanks to Richard and Vicki for organising this fun night and for Magnum Sports for sponsoring the awesome prizes.
