Earlier this month, Kaponga Primary School competed against four other schools in the annual Kaponga Athletics Club Interschool competition.
The other schools were Matapu, Manaia, Auroa, and St Patrick Kaponga.
Each pupil competed in two running events, with the senior students also competing in a long jump and high jump event as well.
Points were collected throughout the day from the running races.
Using a formula, these were totalled up and final points were worked out.
A popular event is the adults relays where staff and adults from the respective schools clash in a 4 x100m relay. Kaponga won this for the first time in many years too.
This was the first time Kaponga Primary School has won the competition since 2011.
