Local high school students swapped their uniforms for mufti for a day to honour a former teacher.

Keith Caldwell, known to many as Pinky, died in January last year after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. He had been a PE teacher at Stratford High School for many years.

His daughter Jessica recently ran the Wellington Round the Bays half marathon raising money for the Stroke Foundation in his memory.

Her fundraising received a $1000 boost from the mufti day on the school's annual athletics day.
