"It's always great to hear it is a local shopper who has won."

Dan Harris says staff at Stratford New World were delighted with the news a winning lotto ticket had been purchased from the store.

The lucky shopper won $51,339 in Lotto Second Division in Saturday night's draw, and came in on Sunday to verify their win.

"Apparently it was with numbers they chose themselves rather than a random selection," says Dan, who with his wife Rebecca owns and operates the Stratford New World.

"It's been a good few weeks for us here at Stratford New World. We gave away a car in an instore promotion recently and now have had a shopper win big on Lotto after buying their ticket at our store. It's great to see local shoppers rewarded in this way."

The lucky Lotto winner was one of five to win Lotto Second Division on Saturday night, with winning tickets also being sold in New World stores in Waiuku, Taumarunui, Silverstream and Christchurch.
