Percy Thomson Gallery presents two vibrant exhibitions, Elements 12 - a ceramic collection and Connections a touring quilting show, both opening at 7.30pm on October 26.
Elements 2012 is a regional exhibition by the New Zealand Society of Potters, comprising selected works by ceramic artists from Wellington and Western Districts (lower North Island.) Guest selector and exhibitor is Fran Maguire from Marlborough, who works in domestic and sculptural war. She has featured in various publications and won many awards. "My interests are in the universe, ideas about genetics, viruses, fertility, microcosm and macrocosm, repeating patterns and exploring my own personal experiences of being."
Gallery director Sue Morton says there will be an amazing array of pottery styles and techniques of a high standard. "The winners will be announced at the opening, so come along and support the recipients. Refreshments and food will be supplied. All are welcome."
Running concurrently is Connections, a travelling Aotearoa Quilters Exhibition.
NANZQ (National Association of NZ Quilters) holds a biennial challenge and 20 quilts are chosen to tour NZ. Quilts are 120cm by 60cm and are all for sale.
