THE Taranaki Electricity Trust is pleased to announce an agreement to purchase the Maryann Rest Home and Retirement Village.
TET Chairman Brian Jeffares is confident that the purchase will be completed with an anticipated take over date on October 13, 2008.
Brian said that an entirely new entity has been established.
"We've created Age Care Central Ltd, which will be a joint venture with Marire Home Incorporated. The new company will run both Marire and Maryann. The TET is excited about the opportunity to invest community money into facilities that provide a range of options for our elderly now and into the future," said Brian.
The newly established Agecare Central has three directors - Peter McDonald, Michael Freeman, and Michael Walsh. Agecare Central's Chairman is Peter McDonald, who said that the company will be advertising for a chief executive officer soon.
Peter said this is an excellent venture that will be a benefit to the Stratford community, and will require an energetic person to fill the CEO role.
"All current staff are retaining their positions. Agecare Central is committed to continuing to deliver high quality rest care in Stratford," said Peter.
Michael Walsh, chairman of Marire Home Incorporated, said Marire have been in the Stratford community as a high quality rest home for over 30 years, and are looking forward to the new joint venture with Agecare Central, which has been approved by the Marire board.
