SUMMER is definitely here and the Stratford Press is back for another year, but not just any year this year we celebrate 50 years of providing residents with great local news and advertising.
Our 50 years kicks off in February, when the first Stratford Press was produced.
Competitions, advertising promotions,
a special jubilee edition, a charity ball and other amazing events are being planned for the year.
This is an exciting time for the Press and a year I am looking forward too.
We would like to hear from anyone who has any old papers, photographs, stories or was involved with the Press in any way to help us celebrate this amazing feat.
More information will be provided later in the year watch this space.

Demolition Derby
A record crowd of 9,800 people saw 72 demolition cars cover the track for the Taranaki Stock Car Club's annual 'First' $1000 Demolition Derby Monday night.
After 60 minutes of mayhem John Duthie (Hawera) in a Vanguard survived the battle to take the $400 first prize.
The last 10 minutes of the derby saw Duthie and Philip Old (Inglewood) in an Austin A50 play cat and mouse among the demolished cars round the track.
The A50 finally succumbed to the battering from Duthie's Vanguard to allow Duthie to take the chequered flag. The derby was stopped in the first minute to remove Ian Meyer (Patea) from his concertinated Vauxhall Velox which was gushing petrol all over the track.
Two cars rolled during the derby the prize for best roll going to saloon car driver Blondie Chamberlain in a 1960 Lloyd.
Terry Loving earned the honour of being best stirrer by reversing round the track and Roger Stewart (Douglas) took the prize for the latest model car with a 1966 Mk 111 Zephyr.

Advantages Of Being A Woman
Why it's better to be a Woman!
1. We got off the Titanic first.
2. We get to flirt with systems support men who always return our calls, and are nice to us when we blow up our computers.
3. Our boyfriend's clothes make us look elfin & gorgeous. Guys look like complete idiots in ours.
4. We can be groupies. Male groupies are stalkers.
5. We can cry and get off speeding fines.
6. We've never lusted after a cartoon character or the central female figure in a computer game.
7. Taxis stop for us.
8. Men die earlier, so we get to cash in on the life insurance.
9. We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.
10. Free drinks, free dinners, free movies ... (you get the point).
