The new first family of New Zealand yachting, the Murdochs, arrived home yesterday after being crowned the world teams sailing champions in Ireland.
Kerikeri siblings Andrew, Rebecca and Hamish Murdoch helmed the three Kiwi boats which won the final in the protest room over the United States.
They returned home
with their parents, Clare and Jim, who were in Dublin to witness their victory.
The Kiwi team - who also included Karen Lambert, Alesha Thorpe and Andrew Ardern - earned the nickname the "Milkshake Kids" as the youngest team at the regatta.
Andrew Murdoch, who also won a bronze medal at the World Youth Cup in Finland last month, will now lead the Kerikeri High School team with Lambert and Ardern in the Interdominion schools championship against Australia.
